From the family of the artist, resulting in the heritage Rotari - Cartolari - Guarienti.

Remarks:
Attribuzion endorsed by Prof. Sergio Marinelli, who proposes a date 1735 - 1740.
This painting precedes Rotari's altarpiece with Saint George in Reggio Emilia of 1743, which is a starting point for Rotari's more classical and accademic orientation, caracteristical of his later career abroad.
Rotari directed between 1735 and 1750 his own Accademia in Verona, where he painted portraits and character studies. His fame than brought him to Vienna, Dresden and Petersburg.
